Live Wisely!

Live Wisely!

Life is full of choices that must be made every day. Sometimes the choices we make truly reflect our values; however, all too often the choices we make reflect our attitude at the moment which may not reflect our values what-so-ever. When we let life dictate the way we live rather than grounding ourselves in our values our lives and our actions, responses, can quickly spiral out of control. On the other hand when we ground ourselves in the Word and surround ourselves with fellow believers we have others that we can glean from and be encouraged by.

Paul urged his fellow believers in Colossae to “Live wisely among those who are not believers, and make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be gracious and attractive so that you will have the right response for everyone” (Colossians 4:5-6).

In order to live wisely and have our conversations be gracious and attractive we must learn to put our trust in the Lord in all things. We must learn to push aside our own understanding and submit to him so that he can make our paths straight (Proverbs 3:5-6). Each of us hears from God in our own way and have the choice to follow Him or to continue down our own path. When we chose what seems good in our own understanding we all too often miss out on what is really best.

Colossians 3:12-15, NLT
Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselve with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony. And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.

God bless,
